Make a
difference in the life of a child this summer - work as a counselor
at the Center Day Camps! Have a significant and positive influence
in the life of a child. You will live, play, and work in the great
outdoors as well as develop a network of friends and colleagues.
If you're in college or even in high school, you will gain practical
experience to further your education and develop hands-on, relevant
leadership skills. Staff also will participate in experiences that
will enhance personal growth.
When employed by the Center Day Camps you will be able to develop
or build your resume with varied skills like communication, problem
solving, critical thinking, teamwork, management and leadership.

Meet our Staff!
Forest Levy, Director of
Center Day Camps and Youth Services
Forest holds a bachelor’s of
science degree in education from the University of Texas.
She majored in youth and community studies and minored in business. She has
worked in camping for 10 years and has two years of experience in a
special-education classroom. Before coming to her current position, Forest was
director of youth and family programs at the Jewish Community Center in Austin,
Texas.
Forest sits on the board of the American Camping Association and continuously
brings experience and enthusiasm to our wonderful camp.
Meagan Williams, Office Manager of Center Day Camps and Youth Services
Meagan graduated from Central
Michigan University with a bachelor’s of applied arts in commercial recreation
and a minor in hospitality. Before coming to the Jewish Center, she organized
and led day camps at Life Time Fitness. Her interests include traveling, big
cities and reading.
Theresa Fulgenzi, Assistant Camp Director
Theresa, also director of the
Inline Hockey Center, graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree
in K-12 physical education. In her free time, she plays ice hockey on a travel
team and loves to fish.
Ronda Brodsky, Swimming
Ronda was
the first aquatics instructor at the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit and taught more than 1,000 students to swim. She received her bachelor’s
degree from Michigan State University and her master’s in physical education and
health from Eastern Michigan University. Ronda is a certified group fitness
instructor, AED instructor, CPR and first-aid instructor, lifeguard and water
safety instructor and aquatic fitness instructor.
Josh
Cutler, Program Director
Josh graduated from Wayne
State University with a degree in secondary education. This year, he began
working toward his master’s degree in educational studies at Oakland University.
Josh has been a teacher and coach, and he has worked at camps for more than 15
years. Josh also teaches seventh and eighth-grade social studies at Hillel Day
School. He and his wife Lisa have two beautiful daughters, Emma and Alexa.
Michael Sandweiss, Pro Sports Director
Michael has worked for Center
Day Camps for three summers. During the school year, he is director of athletics
at the Frankel Jewish Academy. Michael and his wife have two children, Emma and
Madeline. When not at camp, Michael enjoys playing golf, cooking and spending
time with his family.
Carolyn Adler, Imagitivity Unit Head
Carolyn attended Michigan
State University, from which she received a degree in elementary education with
minors in French, Spanish and English. She also holds a master’s degree in
educational technology. During the school year, Carolyn teaches French, Spanish
and drama at Oakview Middle School in Lake Orion. She also directs her school's
musical production each year and is an adviser for the National Junior Honor
Society. In her free time, she likes to travel, attend concerts, read,
scrapbook, make DVDs of family photos, and play Wii.
Brian Litwin, Pond Specialist
Brian attends the University
of Detroit-Mercy where he is working on his secondary education degree, with a
major in math and a minor in chemistry. He hopes to become the High School
Basketball coach at Clawson High School, where he graduated as a salutatorian.
Brian has loved working for the past two years at Center Day Camps.
Jamie Iden, Pond Specialist
Jamie recently graduated from
Michigan State University and just finished a year of student teaching in a
fifth- grade classroom. She has worked for Center Day Camps for the past two
years and says she has loved it.
Sharon Ayzik, Ropes Specialist
Sharon was born in Tel Aviv.
For two summers, she worked at a camp in Israel and was a member of the Israeli
Scouts. Sharon was a basic training commander in the army. This past year was
Sharon’s first experience at Center Day Camps, where she was part of the
shlichim program.
Reut
Levi, Chaverim Unit Head
This was Reut’s second summer
at Center Day Camps. This past year, she finished her term with the Israel
Defense Forces, where she served in the education unit and worked to prepare
teen agers for army service. During the past two years, Reut has worked for the
Jewish Agency, teaching Americans about cities and attractions in Israel.
Sarri Keller, Chaverim Unit Head
Sarri graduated from Eastern
Michigan University with a major in speech and language pathology; her next
project is beginning work on a master’s degree in education. This was Sarri’s
first summer at Center Day Camps and it was, she says, “a blast!” In her spare
time Sarri enjoys traveling, reading, watching movies and photography.
Sean Strasberger, Keshet Unit Head
Sean holds a bachelor’s
degree in special education from Michigan State University, where he is now
continuing his post-graduate studies, also is special education. Sean also has
worked for Center Day Camps as an inclusion counselor.
Maggie Lee, Keshet Unit Head
Maggie graduated from
Michigan State University with a degree in history and is now studying for her
master’s in education at Wayne State University. This was Maggie’s second summer
at Center Day Camps, and she says she was thrilled to be here. In her free time,
Maggie enjoys reading, traveling and cooking.
Nate Miller, B’Yachad Unit Head
Nate graduated from Western
Michigan University with a degree in special education and endorsements in
cognitive impairments and learning disabilities. He now works as a substitute
teacher. Nate enjoys playing sports, especially lacrosse.
Dana Pappas, B’Yachad Unit Head
Dana attends Western Michigan
University and will graduate in December with a communications studies degree.
Dana is captain of the Western’s women’s rugby team and is active in intramural
sports. After graduation, she plans to continue with post-graduate school.
Evan
O’Branovic, Trekkers Unit Head
Evan is a graduate from
Michigan State University. He received a bachelor’s degree in elementary
education and recently moved to Aspen, Co., to accept a fourth-grade teaching
position.
Illana Stern, Teen Tour Unit
Head
Illana graduated from Michigan State University, with a degree in child
development and elementary education, in 2003. She recently began her fifth year
teaching third grade in Allen Park. Illana has been working as a summer camp
counselor since 2001. Her favorite memories include leading the Tamarack
Western Trip in '01 and the Israel Teen Mission in '06. She lives in West
Bloomfield and has been married for two years.
Amy Hudgins, Teen Tour Assistant Unit Head
Amy graduated from Madonna
University in 2008 with a degree in American Sign Language interpreting. She is
now pursuing her master’s in speech pathology at Wayne State University.
